Jason Anker MBE

Testimonials

Jason is well known in the H&S world, his talk is a non-holds barred account of his accident. His candid yet humorous way of taking the audience on his journey is engaging yet the seriousness of the message is never lost. Very few speakers talk like Jason, too often the talk focuses on the accident & resulting injuries but Jason takes you on a very different journey into emotional wellbeing & the effect it had & still has on his family.

The Ripple-effect, this is something that really resonated with our audiences. People are still talking about this now, it has landed that hard!
Jason has been sharing his story for many years, he’s been recognised in many ways & the difference he’s made might never be fully known or understood but its safe to say he has & continues to make a difference each & every time he shares his story.

Throughout 2023 we rolled out a working at height campaign within BAE systems Naval Ships and Jason Anker and P2BS were vital in accomplishing this. Jason and Sean both came to our sites and delivered to over roughly 2,000 people across both of our Glasgow sites over 15 dates. These sessions took place over Dayshift, Backshift, Nightshift and Weekend Shift to ensure the full production workforce went through it.

Jason delivered a powerful presentation regarding his accident, the ripple effect from the accident and also how he has overcome his mental health issues. The presentation really hit home with the workforce as they work at height every day and Jason's key family messaging around his accident related to them. Sean's part of the talk also really brings home the ripple effect an accident can have on different lives, directly or indirectly involved with the accident.

Once word got round of Jason's talks to the production workforce, staff around the sites also wanted to come and see his talk in which we accommodated. It was a successful roll out to the workforce with a real hard hitting message surrounding safety as well as the importance of self care.

It was great to personally work with Jason and Sean and the service from P2BS was exceptional. I would highly recommend Jason, Sean and P2BS's services to anyone who may be interested in their services.

Jase, no matter how many times I hear or read your story, there is always something else that strike me. This time it was the well-being aspect and the fact that you wake up with gratitude. We all have so much to be thankful for, we just don’t always think about these.

Also thinking back to the time I met you first time (10 years ago) and not realising how much you were still having to deal with personally whilst putting a brave face on to put others’ needs before yours through sharing your story. You are a true inspiration and truly well done to you, my friend!

- Coenraad Fourie CMIOSH - Head of Health and Safety

Along with everyone in the audience, I was absorbed as Jason told us of his life before the incident and then described the day of the incident in detail. He spoke of the highs and lows since that day, such as time spent in hospital and rehabilitation, his release from hospital and his struggle with life over the past 22 years and the impact this had on his family and friends.

Jason's presentation is more powerful than any I can ever make and the message is very simple- every single one of us has a choice to make about being safe - or unsafe -at work; and we bear responsibility for the consequences.

The big difference is Jason finishes his story and session in a very positive way that really made me think about ME, my wellbeing and my impact on others. This is a story of an ordinary bloke told in an extraordinary way that makes a real impact on his audience and at an individual level.

The main points i took away from the session were, safety is a culture not an instruction, peer pressure is so powerful for good but can also be very negative, our mental health and pressures of life can be a direct contributor to our performance and as such we need to open up and talk about how we are feeling.

It is important we look to develop these themes and create a company that supports and cares for its staff. Thank you for reminding us of this.
